Refereeing soccer can be any or all of the following:

• A part time job with excellent money making opportunities. ?
• Potential to advance as a referee, CPL, National, FIFA and beyond. 
• A rewarding way to give back to the game.
• A way to stay physically fit.
• An opportunity to learn important life skills such as organization, time management, and leadership.
• A way to stay involved in some great soccer.

MSA Referee Courses

People wishing to become Referees must pass an Entry Level Course. The MSA hosts Entry Level Referee Course annually to prepare for the outdoor season. 

A one-day introductory course for people 12-14 years old, who would like to referee U9/U10 Small Sided Soccer. The course will go over the following:

• Referee duties and responsibilities?
• The Laws of the Game and how to apply them to Small Sided soccer
• On field practical training

Prospective Referees, 14+ years of age, as of January 1, 2023 are eligible to take the District Entry Level Course. By successfuly completing the course new referees will be eligible to Officiate U9-Senior Developmental, Recreational & Competitive Soccer

The course includes 17 hours of instruction to prepare referees in the areas of:

• Referee duties and responsibilities?
• The Laws of the Game and how to apply them
• Foul Recognition & Offside
• On field practical training 
• Assistant Referee calls & signals
